Terms of Service.

These terms govern your subscription to Daro's bin-handling service. By signing up at getdaro.co.uk, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Daro is the trading name of Daro Home Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC889546) with its registered office at 1C Simpson Parkway, Kirkton Campus, Livingston Village, Livingston, EH54 7BH. General contact: hello@getdaro.co.uk. Legal notices: info@getdaro.co.uk.

2. The service

We move your council-issued bins from your designated storage location to the kerbside the night before each scheduled council collection, and return them to the storage location after the bin has been emptied. We photograph the bin at the kerb and after return as proof of service.

3. Eligibility

You must (a) be aged 18 or over, (b) be the householder, tenant, or have the householder's permission to instruct us, (c) live within our current service area, and (d) provide a valid UK bank account capable of accepting Direct Debit mandates.

4. Service area

Our service area at launch is restricted to specific postcode sectors within West Lothian. Current coverage is shown on getdaro.co.uk/coverage. We are not obliged to serve any address outside the listed sectors.

5. Subscription tiers and pricing

Tiers and prices are published on getdaro.co.uk/pricing. The price you sign up at is the price you pay until we notify you of a change (section 11) or you cancel. Founder Member £29/month is locked for the lifetime of your continuous subscription at the same address. If you cancel and resubscribe, Founder pricing does not return.

6. Billing

  • Billing is monthly by Direct Debit via GoCardless. The first debit is taken on activation; subsequent debits on the same date each month.
  • You are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
  • If a debit fails, we will retry once. If the retry also fails we will suspend service and contact you. After 7 days without resolution we may terminate the subscription.
  • Card payments via Stripe are available for one-off charges but are not used for the recurring subscription.

7. What you authorise us to do

By subscribing you authorise our operatives to enter the curtilage of the property (driveway, side passage, front garden) to access your bins on collection days. You confirm you have the legal right to grant this access. Operatives carry photo ID and wear branded uniforms.

8. Your obligations

  • Ensure your bins are accessible (unlocked side gates, clear paths) on the agreed collection schedule.
  • Keep the bin location instructions you gave at sign-up up to date.
  • Separate recyclables and general waste in line with West Lothian Council's rules — we do not handle or sort bin contents.
  • Tell us promptly if collection days change, you move address, or you change bank account. Email support@getdaro.co.uk.

9. Missed collections

  • If the council misses your bin and our photo proves it was at the kerb on time, we will reattempt presentation at the next available council pickup window at no charge.
  • If we miss your collection (we fail to put the bin out), we will credit you one month's subscription against your next invoice.
  • We are not liable for council strike action, severe weather, or other matters outside our reasonable control (section 13).

10. Photos

We take two photos per visit: bin at the kerb, bin returned. These are stored for 12 months in our secure database and used to (a) prove service, (b) resolve disputes, (c) train operatives. They are not shared with third parties except where required by law. See our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to terms or pricing

We may change these terms or our prices with 30 days' written notice to your registered email address. If the change is to your disadvantage you may cancel before it takes effect with no further charge. Founder Member £29/month is exempt from price changes for the lifetime of the continuous subscription.

12. Cancellation

You may cancel at any time by emailing support@getdaro.co.uk or via your customer dashboard once available. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month — no pro-rata refund is given for the partial month, but you remain entitled to service until the paid period ends. We may cancel your subscription on 30 days' notice for any reason, or immediately if you breach these terms materially.

13. Liability

  • Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  • Subject to the above, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the total subscription fees you paid us in that period.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. council fines beyond our obligations under section 9, lost wages, distress).

14. Data

We process your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy. The ICO is our supervisory authority. Data rights requests: support@getdaro.co.uk.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by Scots law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.

16. Complaints

Email support@getdaro.co.uk with "Complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve within 14. If you remain unhappy after our final response you may refer the matter to the Citizens Advice consumer service.
